Ocean Lakes has become a breeding ground for college prospects. The latest Dolphin to pick up a college offer is junior cornerback T.J. Griffin.
Head Coach Chris Scott shared the news that Griffin (5-10 180) landed an offer from Duke this week. T.J.’s combination of skill and academics got the Blue Devils interested. Duke Assistant Coach Re’quan Boyette first saw Griffin at Ocean Lakes’ team workout during the Spring Evaluation period.
“T.J. is a two-year started for us at corner with exceptional speed. He’s a 4.39 guy already,” said the coach. “He also plays slot receiver and running back for us.”
No one athlete is going to carry all the weight for Ocean Lakes. The talent there is that deep. Griffin gets plenty of opportunities to shine, and with the great number of prospects on the field for the Dolphins, the college coaches come flocking.
In addition to the offer from Duke, Griffin is getting interest from UVA, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion, East Carolina, NC State, Wake Forest, Maryland, Wisconsin, James Madison and Liberty.
Duke’s win over Virginia Tech on Saturday could add a little fuel to the recruiting fire. While the Blue Devils can’t typically come into the 757 and outrecruit the Hokies, the timing of the offer and yesterday’s win over Tech couldn’t be better for Duke.
