There’s been some development in Derrick Nnadi’s recruitment. When interviewed on Thursday, Nnadi confirmed his experience with visiting Penn State and Florida State earlier this month, and he confirmed his plans to visit Ohio State and Virginia Tech in January. Nnadi shared with us after the Chesapeake Bowl that he’s added a visit to his schedule.
Derrick will visit Ohio State on the weekend of January 17 and will visit Virginia Tech on the weekend of January 24. That schedule looked to give the Hokies an advantage when it comes to recruiting Nnadi, since they’d get the last visit. Now, Derrick has added the UVA Cavaliers to his official visit list, and they’re getting a visit on January 31.
“I’m making an official visit to UVA on the 31st,” said Nnadi on Saturday night. “I wanted to give them a visit.”
That opens up Nnadi’s recruitment a little more. When asked about a commitment date, Nnadi confirmed that his official commitment might not come until National Signing Day now, which is Wednesday, February 5. That’s three days after his weekend in Charlottesville.
It looks like the Nnadi recruitment will come down to the wire. Will he join Quin Blanding and Andrew Brown at UVA? Will he go with the Hokies and follow in his father’s footsteps? Will he join Jalyn Holmes at Ohio State? Or will he take the path less traveled and head to Florida State or Penn State?
Nnadi has said before that he is not looking for early playing time and he’s not worried about going to a school far away. It’s still a tough recruitment to read, and it looks like we’re not going to get an answer any time soon.
