Harbor Park was a field of dreams for dozens of local baseball players looking to showcase their skills and get measured against the best players of the region. Best of the 757, Bon Secours In Motion, and the Norfolk Tides played host to players looking to up their game and their visibility.
The players competed first in a series of tests set up to measure their physical performance: the pro agility shuttle, rotational medicine ball toss, vertical leap, and 30-60 yard dash. From there, the players moved on to position specific coaching and skill testing. That’s where the baseball specific skills really had a chance to shine: pitcher against pitcher, catcher against catcher, and so forth.
Schools from all over Hampton Roads were represented. Those who shined brightest were awarded with Showcase MVP Awards:
Michael Bienlien, Great Bridge (SO P 6-2 140)
Dominiq Castillo-Porterfield, Ocean Lakes (SR 3B 5-9 175)
Nick Gianascoli, Cape Henry (SR C 5-11 195)
Wyatt Lam, Cape Henry (JR P 6-2 175)
Garrett Marchand, Western Branch (SO 3B 6-0 190)
Jack Markey, Norfolk Academy (SR SS 5-9 150)
KC Mason, Tallwood (SR CF 5-10 200)
Matt Rosen, First Colonial (SR P 5-10 160)
Jacob Sinniger, Landstown (JR 3B 6-2 210)
Justin Traw, Green Run (JR P 5-9 150)
A special thanks goes out to Bon Secour In Motion, The Norfolk Tides, and The Best of the 757 for giving our local athletes an opportunity to showcase their talents!
